Update On Race Results

August 6, 2011

The deadline for the vessels to submit their Race Declaration Forms passed at 12:00 local time yesterday (Friday 5 August) but several vessels were delayed in reaching Halmstad due to the continuing unfavourable winds. The final Race Results are due to be published this morning when the Race Committee expect to have finished cross-checking all declarations and any other relevant race information.

The light and variable headwinds during the race from Stavanger to Halmstad have been challenging for the crews and the competition has been friendly but tough with just a couple of minutes separating some vessels on the provisional Corrected Time placings.

The final Race Series Results, which will be based on the lowest combined Corrected Time for all three races, will be announced at the final awards ceremony which is due to take place following the Crew Parade in the City Square at 17:00 local time today (Saturday 6 August).

The most coveted award of the Race Series, the Sail Training International Friendship Trophy, will be presented to the vessel which in the opinion of the Captains and their Crews have done most towards international understanding and friendship throughout the Race Series.
