Thank you Barcelona, and goodbye

Thank you Barcelona, and goodbye
The fleet left Barcelona at lunch time today, heading along the coast to the small town of Badelona, about five miles away.   The Parade of Sail is the traditional way of saying Thank You to the host city.  Many thousands of spectators watched as the fleet made its way, with trainees waving, singing and dancing on board their ships as they did so.

They are now on their way to the Race Start, which is start line, which is five miles SE of Badelona.  This race to Toulon is due to start at 1700hrs local time (1500hrs UTC/GMT).

You can track the fleet as they make their way to Toulon here

What is sail training?
Sail Training is an adventure activity, which includes far more than sailing instruction. Participants are required to confront demanding challenges, both physical and emotional. It is an activity that inspires self-confidence and personal responsibility. It promotes an acceptance of others, whatever their social or cultural backgrounds, and develops a willingness to take controlled risks. Those who undertake Sail Training on Tall Ships generally find it a positive life-changing experience.
