Final Ten Racing to Finish

Just ten vessels are now racing towards the finish line in the final leg of The Tall Ships Races 2012. Four have now retired from the race after being beset by light and variable winds and are using their engines to make sure that they arrive in Dublin before the wonderful festivities begin.

Many of those vessels that have finished have been enjoying the kind hospitality of some "Tall Ships Friendly" ports - Cork, Waterford, Dun Laoghaire and Belfast - where they have received a warm welcome. Vessels have until Thursday morning (23rd August) to arrive in Dublin, but many more will stop in at these ports so that their crews can enjoy a good time ashore after a hard race in gale force winds across the Bay of Biscay.

The current race positions on corrected time are:

Class A
1st: Cuauhtemoc  (Mexico) FINISHED

2nd: Alexander Von Humboldt II (Germany) FINISHED

3rd: Fryderyk Chopin (Poland) FINISHED

Class B
