SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2016 Sochi: Rewarding Teamwork and International Friendship
Today (Saturday 24 September), there was a welcome break
from the stormy weather in Sochi – the third port of the SCF Black Sea
Tall Ships Regatta 2016. This gave cadets, trainees and crew members the
chance to take part in the Crew Parade and then celebrate at the
prestigious Prize Giving Ceremony, which included a visit from a very

The event has been a huge success in Sochi. We’ve seen highly
competitive inter-ship sports activities, spectacular fireworks, and
several exciting excursionsäó_ not to mention the large number of visitors
that came to visit the impressive fleet.
Although today is the
last full day in port, the festivities aren’t quite finished yet! We’re
looking forward to the Parade of Sail tomorrow (Sunday 25 September),
ahead of the start of Race 3 to Varna, Bulgaria.
Promoting International Friendship
In
the spirit of global friendship and understanding, we took the
opportunity to meet international trainees yesterday (Friday 23
September). At the SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2016 in Sochi, we’re
proud to confirm that trainees, cadets and crew members from 18
different countries have taken part (Romania, Russia, Belarus, Spain,
Finland, France, Slovakia, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Uruguay, Germany,
Bulgaria, Estonia, Ukraine, Vietnam, Lithuania, and Kazakhstan).
The Crew Parade
Earlier
today, the parade made its way through the city toward the stage in the
Marine Village, entertaining the spectators that had gathered to watch
the procession.
The Prize Giving Ceremony
Following the
Crew Parade, the Prize Giving Ceremony took place. The
crews were hugely excited to welcome President of the Russian
Federation, Vladimir Putin, on stage to present the award for 1st in
Class A on corrected time.
