Polish First Across The Line

July 31, 2011

An exciting start to Race Three of The Tall Ships Races 2011 – Stavanger to Halmstad, saw Dar Mlodziezy from Poland first across the line in Class A, closely stalked by Russian ship, Mir and Europa from the Netherlands. It was Stina Mari for Class B, Ocean Spirit of Moray in Class C and Tomidi in Class D.

Paul Bishop, Race Director, commented: äóìThe winds were eight to ten knots, north westerly – ideal conditions for a race start and the wind is expected to hold at the moment.  Stavanger has been a fantastic host port and we look forward to welcoming the fleet to Halmstad, the final destination of this race series.äó

Stavanger is now somewhat quieter than it has been over the last few days with visitor figures reaching a staggering 350,000, the largest crowd hosted by the Norwegian city to date.

The Tall Ships Races 2011, presented by Szczecin and organised by Sail Training International concludes in Sweden where the overall winners for the entire race series will be revealed in addition to winners of Race Three.
