Parade of Sail

May 24, 2010

A good breeze from the south and bright sunshine were perfect conditions for this afternoon’s Historical Seas Tall Ships Regatta Parade of Sail.

Having started undocking at 1130 local time (0830 UTC/GMT) this morning, the ships made their way out to the bay off Varna and lined up in unison for the 2.5km parade.

The wind direction from the south was ideal, allowing the ships to show off their beauty, some under sail, to the thousands of spectators lining the shore of Varna.

At 1200 UTC/GMT the ships have just one hour to prepare for the start of Race 2. Class A and B will cross the line at  1300 UTC/GMT, and Classes B and C will start at 1330 UTC/GMT.

The wind looks set to remain at 10-12kts from the south which means a fairly lively start is expected.
