In Search of Adventure on Alexander von Humboldt

June 7, 2010

Bretta Deusen is seeking adventure and while she would normally be organising the purchasing of breakfast cereals for Metro cash and carry in Dusseldorf, today she was helping load the stores on board the German ship Alexander von Humboldt ready for sailing.

Never having sailed before, Bretta is a little apprehensive about the adventure she is about to enjoy but says the sight of the Tall Ships is so beautiful that she wanted to sail on one. Bretta has also never been to Greece before and the ship’s next port of call is Palma de Majorca – another new experience for her. “It is a big adventure full of firsts for me,” said Bretta, “but I am very excited and looking forward to it all.”

From Palma de Majoraca, Alexander von Humboldt will be sailing to Lisbon and then on to Antwerp to take part in The Tall Ships Races 2010.

At 1200 local today the Tall Ships will leave Lavrion and head off in their different directions – many will be joining Alexander von Humboldt to head west and north towards The Tall Ships Races.
