Hello Scotland!

July 8, 2011

Anticipation is building in Scotland as 24 vessels have already arrived in port ahead of the official opening of The Tall Ships Races 2011 – Greenock, tomorrow.

A ‘Welcome Extravaganza’ will take place at 1400 on the main stage when Miss Scotland will be joined by Knut Western, Event Chairman of Tall Ships Races Europe, to declare the event open.

Crowds will flock to James Watt Dock over the next four days with 600,000 people expected to take in the stunning view of 52 Tall Ships.

Knut Western commented: äóìThe fleet visited Greenock in 1999 and we at Sail Training International look forward to seeing the vessels and their crews in James Watt Dock and around the town again this year.  We are confident that Greenock will give the crews a memorable welcome and stay after Race One of The Tall Ships Races 2011.äó
