Garibaldi Tall Ships Regatta – Final Results

April 17, 2010

Due to a lack of wind, the Garibaldi Tall Ships Regatta was finished while the fleet were still at sea at 0900 on 14 April. The fleet then made their way into Trapani under motor and have been enjoying a warm welcome with plenty of festivities in port.

Each vessel was required to provide their race declaration form to the race committee before the final results could be calculated. This calculation takes into account their time correction factors which allows all vessels to compete against each other, as well as other factors such as use of engine.

The final results are now available and confirm that the Italian Class B vessel Pandora is the winner overall on corrected time.

In the Classes, Astrid (Netherlands) is the winner of Class A on corrected time, with Oosterschelde (Netherlands) in second and Tenacious (UK) in third.

Pandora was also the winner of the Class B, with Tecla (Netherlands) in second place and Far Barcelona (Spain) in third.

The winner of the Class C/D was Akela (Russia) with Woj (Austria) in second place and Viva (Latvia) in third.

The trophies for all these will be awarded this evening, together with a number of other prizes, at the prize giving following the crew parade, which starts at 1900 hrs.

The Garibaldi Tall Ships Regatta is organised by Sail Training International.
