Cuauhtemoc Speeding Towards Finish Line

Cuauhtemoc (Mexico) is expected to be the first vessel to cross the finish line tonight followed by Alexander Von Humboldt II (Germany) which is 30 miles behind and Fryderyk Chopin (Poland) a further 10 miles behind her. These Class A ships are also currently in the top three places on corrected time but these results are provisional and might change.

The very strong winds have provided exhilarating sailing over the 520 nautical mile rhumb-line course for those vessels that decided to start at the beginning of the start window on Tuesday evening. These winds have also been ideal for the large Class A ships allowing them to maintain maximum hull speeds.

The five vessels yet to leave A Coruña because of the strong winds are likely to run into lighter winds over the next few days but they are expected to arrive in Dublin by Thursday morning (23rd August) in time for the wonderful festivities.

The five vessels expected to leave A Coruña tomorrow morning are:

Black Diamond

Alba Explorer

Thermopylae Clipper

John Laing

Creidne
