The agreement will see Lycamobile headline sponsor The Mediterranean Tall Ships Regatta in 2013 and partner the global Tall Ships Races in 2014 and 2015, with significant port branding presence. The first Lycamobile Tall Ships Race will be staged across the Mediterranean this summer, leaving Barcelona on 24 September, before heading for stopovers in Toulon, France from 27 September and the finish in La Spezia, Italy on 4 October.
The deal is a significant milestone for Lycamobile which continues to build its brand presence across Europe. Over 1.75 million visitors are expected across the three Mediterranean Regatta port events between race legs allowing Lycamobile to showcase its international mobile communications services to an ever-growing customer base.
On-site activation will include extensive branding in each port, a new composite logo featured on all marketing collateral, product sampling, hospitality and a full media and communications campaign.
The partnership follows a successful pilot sponsorship in 2012 when Lycamobile was an Official Event Partner to a series of Tall Ships Races across Europe, and is the product of a wider global sponsorship
procurement programme launched by Sail Training International and Capitalize - The BrandFan(r) Agency last year.
Subaskaran Allirajah - Group Chairman, Lycamobile comments: "At Lycamobile, our mission is to connect global communities. Tall Ships Races holds similar values close to its heart and our extremely positive relationship with them in the past has yielded this longer term partnership putting us by their side for years to come. This sponsorship is a wonderful opportunity to further engage with our customers across Europe and the Lycamobile team is extremely excited to embark on this international adventure."
Gwyn Brown, Commercial Directorate, Sail Training International, said: "The Lycamobile Mediterranean Tall Ships Regatta is a great sponsorship opportunity for Lycamobile and we're delighted to have them on board again. The international element of the event complements the business of Lycamobile. The high visitor attendance at the port events will see them benefit from some terrific exposure, which will generate a positive return on their investment."
