International Youth Forum

12 of the 15 members of the International Youth Forum (IYF) met for the first time on the Thursday before the conference on board Class Afloat's Concordia, which was in Istanbul as part of her world voyage. The 12 members, listed below, discussed their role in the following topics:
•  Making sail training more attractive to young people
•  Making young people more aware of sail training opportunities
•  What can/should the IYF do to contribute to the development of sail training policies and activities
•  Steps forward, officers, mission and next meeting and next activities

During the third Plenary Session on Saturday, the IYF outlined their discussions, including disclosing their mission: "The International Youth Forum aims to bring young people from the international community together; working for youth by youth to provide fresh ideas for the future of sail training."

Shannon Dunfey-Ball, the USA representative, was elected as Chairman of the Forum, with Meri Saaivirta, from Finland, Vice Secretary, and Lena Maekler, from Germany, Secretary.
