European ships sail down under
Dutch Tall Ships Oosterschelde, Europa and Tecla
Three Tall Ships from the Netherlands are expected to join together this year to follow in the wake of Dutch explorers Cornelis de Houtman, Abel Tasman and Van Diemen. The Tall Ships will sail to Australia to take part in the 2013 Sydney to Auckland Tall Ships Regatta.
In October 2012, the three-masted topsailschooner Oosterschelde will depart from her homeport Rotterdam. The three-masted bark Europa will be sailing East after completing an expedition to Terra Australis (Antarctica) meeting Oostershelde in Cape Town.
From Cape Town, the Tall Ships will be sailing together across the Indian Ocean. Recently, the two mast herring drifter Tecla expressed a keen interest in participating on this world trip.

In October 2012 Lord Nelson will set off on a ten leg
voyage to sail round the world. The ship will sail over 45,000 miles,
cross the equator four times, visit six continents and 30 countries.
