Ireland’s oldest city and home to world-famous Waterford Crystal, Waterford is the gateway to Ireland’s southeast. The region features some of the country’s best coastline and countryside as well as charming cities and towns. A port since Viking times, Waterford is steeped in history but also offers a range of 21st Century visitor attractions.

The city previously hosted The Tall Ships Races in 2005 and that memorable occasion showcased some of the best of Irish hospitality. From June 30-July 3, 2011, Waterford will again be en fete and rolling out the red carpet for the international Tall Ships fleet and the visiting crews. As well as a full entertainment programme capturing the best of Irish music, food and street theatre, full crew facilities will be provided on both sides of the River Suir.

The locations where the Tall Ships berth in Waterford is right at the heart of the historic city and this central site helps generate a terrific atmosphere and to ensure the requirements of visiting crews can be more easily met.
